Biking: hire a bike and hit the Queenstown trails, or get shuttled to Arrowtown and take in a biking wine tour (shuttle back of course), or if you want a challenge take the track back to Queenstown – whatever your fitness level or reason for biking get in touch with the team at Around the basin to help you out , so much spectacular scenery to take in!

Helicopter ride of a lifetime: we can personally recommend the Milford extend flight with the team at They will fly you to places that will take your breath away – if I could do this tour weekly I would!

Air Milford: Take in the spectacular views from above! The best way to see Queenstown, Doubtful sounds, Mt Cook, Steward Island, and the spectacular Milford sounds! Family owned, personalised and exclusive flying, all in brand new Cessna caravan planes – this team will take you over scenery that you could only have ever dreamed of, see it to believe it.        

Canyoning: Family owned, unique adventures suitable for anyone over 10 years old – a great way to see New Zealand’s incredible outdoors, take a look 

Altitude Tours:  Altitude tours pride themselves on providing “Epic small group travel”. For all of the tours they use luxury Mercedes vans with complimentary WiFi, bottled water, onboard videos and an interactive experience, with a focus on providing every passenger with a day to remember. BLACK ZQN: Black ZQN provides private bespoke luxury touring and transfers. Their tours and experiences are all custom to each individual’s interests. Black ZQN can do a variety of touring options from Milford Sound, Luxury Wine Tours, sightseeing, all in private luxury vehicles

Short Walks.  For a list of local short walks to take in the spectacular scenery we can recommend The Frankton trail (it’s on our door step), Queenstown gardens, Moke Lake, Lake Haye’s, Bob’s cove track, Jacks Point, Sunshine Bay track, The Arrowtown trail or for those of you that want some hills we can recommend Queenstown Hill, Ben Lomond track, Tiki Trail and so many more! Earnslaw experience: this is a experience that is suitable for all members of the family and a great way to see the sights from Lake Wakatipu with a beautiful garden at Walter Peak Station – the BBQ cruise is our favourite here at Stay.

Jet boating and water adventures: take your pick from a number of water adventures in Queenstown and please know you will get wet! Jet boat ride up the shot over or Kawarau rivers, for the dare devils Canyoning through Skippers of if you are looking for a gentler way to exercise on water, we suggest parasailing or paddle boarding.

Paragliding. for those of you seeking adventure. What a way to see Queenstown from above, these guys will give you the ride of a lifetime at

Hot pools: here at stay we love ONSEN especially in the winter months, it is the perfect way to unwind after a day up the mountain skiing or a post hike soak, uninterrupted views over the Shotover river, lay back and take it all in 


These are a few of our favourite local eateries however, we have many more so feel free to ring reception, txt or email if you feel like a certain cuisine. We are food and wine lovers and are here to help you.

Mora: We know you’re not supposed to have favourite’s but if we did! For lunch in winter or summer, it can’t be beat. A 20-minute drive towards Arrowtown from our place and on a beautiful day we recommend sitting outside. 

Rata: For an all-round fantastic dining experience head to Rata, one of Queenstown’s best, some say it ‘tastes like New Zealand’. Rata is a ten-minute walk from Stay or 2-minute drive

Botswana Butchery: do food and service so very well, a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive

Fergburger: If it’s burgers you love, then jump in the queue… 

SAL’s pizza: if you just need a NYC slice or an entire pie, Sal’s in NY pizza in Queenstown and it is so good, in the summer, spring, autumn or winter – we haven’t had a bad piece during any season 

Patagonia: you are not supposed to have favourites however, if you LOVE desserts, ice cream and hot chocolates you can’t go past….. Patagonia!!

Japanese cuisine: some of our favourite’s include Kappa (upstairs) 36 The Mall, beautiful food, casual setting. We can also recommend the beautiful food at Tanoshi also casual attire and food worth writing home about!

Indian cuisine: a hearty favourite for our team especially over the winter months or colder summer evenings

Flame:  if you love steak well Flame bar and grill classes their ribs as their hero, the food is incredible, the wine list extensive and the prawns well…. i’d eat them every night if i could

Farelli’s:  delicious authentic Italian food, great atmosphere and you will never leave hungry, a local favourite 

Taco medic: a small ‘hole in the wall’ casual taco bar, the food will not disappoint – Taco Tuesday is one of our favourite nights $5 tacos and we can recommend the pork belly Mr Nachos, we always get take always and sit on the beach front

Margo’s: We can recommend the Margaritas! Margo’s has a vibrant atmosphere with great Mexican food
